Clinical Support Worker (Band 2)

As a band 2 Clinical Support Worker, you will have the following qualifications and experience:

Qualifications

  • The Care Certificate (or equivalent healthcare qualification). 
  • NVQ/Diploma level 2 in Healthcare (or equivalent healthcare qualification) or successful completion of a level 2 Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship.
  • Functional skills English and maths level 1 or GCSE English and maths grade D-G/1-3 or above. (If you don’t have the appropriate English and maths qualifications, your application will be considered and, if appointed, you would be required to achieve functional skills level 1 in English and maths by the end of the first year of employment.

Experience

  • A minimum of 1 year full-time equivalent experience as a Healthcare Support Worker or Trainee in a care setting.

Trainee Clinical Support Worker (Band 2 Apprentice)If you don’t have the qualifications and/or experience required of a band 2 Clinical Support Worker (as described above), and would like to take the first step towards a successful career with the NHS, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust have opportunities for motivated individuals to undertake a Trainee Clinical Support Worker apprenticeship (please see ‘Additional Documentation’). Please note, you will be required to undertake a literacy and numeracy assessment as part of the apprenticeship recruitment process.

You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Clinical Induction Programme for Clinical Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the CSW Induction Programme Lead if this is going to be problematic: rallen@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes 2 supernumerary shifts in the clinical area (an early and a late shift), all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9am to 5pm
