Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust are proud to own two acute hospitals. Maidstone hospital, Kent’s home oncology centre, has a wide range of complex and routine surgical and medical services and has the latest in diagnostic facilities. Tunbridge Wells Hospital is the first NHS Hospital in England to provide en-suite single rooms to all in-patients in ward environments. The hospital is seen nationally as an example of best practice in the design of patient-safe facilities and has attracted widespread international interest. It provides a range of complex and routine surgical and medical services and is a recognised Trauma Centre with state of the art facilities.
We are looking for dedicated and passionate band 5 Registered Nurses to work with our Trauma and Orthopaedic Teams at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
Ward 31 is an orthopaedic trauma ward which specialises in providing care to patients who have experienced trauma requiring emergency surgery, such as those patients with fractured neck of femurs, complicated dislocations, and neck and spinal injuries.
Both of our orthopaedic wards are vibrant, modern, forward thinking departments which promote evidence based high standards of patient care. Professional development is paramount and all staff are encouraged to fulfil their potential with the full support from senior nursing teams and the Trusts practice development team.
We have band 5 vacancies on both of our orthopaedic wards and there is also an option for an internal rotation between the two departments whereby you can secure a position on either department of your choice at the end of the internal rotation without the need for a further interview. The option of ward choice and internal rotation can be discussed at interview, however, it must be noted that any applicants wishing to partake in an internal rotation will be obligated to complete the rotation between both departments in full.

You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Induction Programme for RNs, RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic: email@example.com), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-based study days which run from 9am to 5pm.
