An exciting opportunity has arisen for an internal  12 month secondment for Theatre Clinical Co-ordinator to lead the Operating Theatres at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

The Tunbridge Wells Hospital consists of 11 theatres in 3 locations throughout the Hospital site. Theatre Service provision encompasses inpatient and day case elective surgery for orthopaedics, gynaecology, general and ENT and is the acute centre for emergency surgery including trauma, general, ENT and gynaecology and obstetrics. The Theatres have a very busy 24hr dedicated CEPOD theatre, trauma theatre and 2 obstetric theatres located in the maternity department. There is also a dedicated ophthalmic theatre in the outpatient department.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Nurse/ Theatre Practitioner to lead a team of 120 registered Theatre Practitioners and Support Workers and you will also work closely with surgical teams to deliver high quality patient care. You should demonstrate the ability to work unsupervised, work well under pressure and be experienced in change management. A proven track record of clinical management and performance management will be required to undertake this challenging and rewarding role. A sound knowledge and delivery of KPIs, financial control and quality indicators management is also essential.

You will be expected to work within the person specification of a Band 8a healthcare professional and attend key performance, project and change management meetings offering expert advice as required.

You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Induction Programme for RNs, RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment).  The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic: nicola.henthorn@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-based study days which run from 9am to 5pm.
