We have a trained vacancy for a Staff Nurse. Ward 10 is a very busy surgical ward so you will need to be adaptable and be able to cope working in a stressful environment.

You will be dealing with acutely unwell patients with varying complex needs. We transfer patients to Intensive Care and also receive patients from the Intensive Care Unit. You will have ample opportunity to learn and develop yourself as a Band 5 in this supportive environment.

We have a strong clinical leadership with a Band 6 Clinical Skills Facilitator and a robust nursing management structure and support network. We require someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as an organised person with a positive attitude who is flexible and proactive. We are a very friendly team and all enjoy working in our new environment. Tunbridge Wells Hospital is the first hospital in England to have all single rooms with ensuite bathrooms. The Trust and the Ward are extremely keen to develop you as a staff nurse and there is a wealth of training opportunities for you to select.

Tunbridge Wells is a vibrant and thriving town with historical sites as well as excellent schools, superb shopping and theatres. It has good transport links to both London and the Coast. It is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Induction Programme for RNs, RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment).  The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic: nicola.henthorn@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-based study days which run from 9am to 5pm.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at enhanced level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

As an inclusive employer, we are committed to having a diverse workforce and being a Stonewall Diversity Champion and Disability Confident Committed Employer we are working to create a workplace that enables all staff to reach their full potential.  We, therefore, encourage applications from BME people, LGBT+ people and people with disabilities.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
