Consultant- Community Geriatric medicine

West Kent health (GP Federation) & Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells acute trust are seeking to appoint a joint post to expand our capability of providing specialist community geriatric services for older adults and Frail population.

The successful candidate will be employed by West Kent Health.

The successful candidate is expected to lead the multidisciplinary community frailty teams and will play a leading and innovating role in shaping services in the community. The candidate will be expected to develop a close working relationship with acute frailty units at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells hospitals and will spend 1 day a week working in the acute hospitals. They may also participate in the acute on-call rota by mutual negotiation.

Applicants should be on the Specialist Register for Geriatric Medicine and ideally GIM and be within 4 months of CCT on the interview date. Opportunities for those with interests in specific projects, service development and managerial roles will also be considered. If you are a first-time consultant we can offer you additional funding for CPD in areas such as management, leadership and clinical skills. The trust also runs a successful mentorship scheme and is closely involved in establishing the newest medical school in the country with Kent and Canterbury Christchurch Universities.

West Kent health is a GP federation representing around 56 Practices and looking after a population of half a million. It has established a close and collaborative working relationship with all major providers including the acute and community trusts.

There are fantastic travel links in Kent with key motorways such as the M2 and M20 and with excellent accessibility to both London and the continent by train. In West Kent there are many high-performing schools ranging from pre-school and primary to secondary school education, including excellent grammar schools, special needs schools and some of the top private education institutions in the country.
