We welcome applications from Band 5 Staff Nurses who are interested in being part of a friendly, vibrant team within a modern, dynamic Emergency Department.

The Emergency Department at Tunbridge Wells Hospital is a busy department seeing approximately 80,000 patients per year. As a Stroke Unit and a designated Trauma Unit (TU) working as part of the SELKaM network, pathways have been developed to ensure that we deliver the highest standard of care. With a new senior nursing leadership team comprising of a senior matron and 2 new matrons now in post we are looking to take our ED forward with a new workforce strategy taking place such as the GP streaming initiative, Emergency Care Paramedics and a new CDU model.

We work as a team to deliver high quality emergency care to patients presenting with a broad spectrum of conditions within our new state of the art department which comprises of a 6 bedded resuscitation room, 16 majors cubicles, a rapid assessment area, designated paediatric area, CDU and minor injuries.

Our ED offers an educationally focused environment. We are committed to developing and supporting our staff with their career pathway and have strong links with both Greenwich and Canterbury Christ Church Universities. You will also have the support of a Practice Development Nurse who will support your development alongside your team leader and the senior nursing team.

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic nurses who want to be part of a large highly skilled multidisciplinary team delivering a high standard of care. This role offers the opportunity to develop core skills and consolidate previous experiences and is the ideal next step for nurses already working in an acute setting to develop their skills and knowledge further.

To be considered for this role you will be

- a registered nurse with 6 months post qualification experience

- able to evidence recent and ongoing professional development

 

You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Induction Programme for RNs, RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic: nicola.henthorn@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-based study days which run from 9am to 5pm.
