Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital trust, providing hospital services to around 500,000 people living in the south of west Kent and parts of north east Sussex.

The Trust operates from two primary sites; our new state of the art Tunbridge Wells Hospital, the first all single room NHS hospital in England, and Maidstone Hospital, home to the Kent Oncology Centre, one of the leading cancer treatment centres in the southeast.

The Tunbridge Wells hospital is also a level 2 trauma centre.  All of this, and future plans for development make this an exciting time to be part of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

Due to successful internal promotion we are looking for a permanent Band 6 to join the team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells which includes opportunities in medicine, surgery and elderly care.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to become part of our team to further develop core occupational therapy skills and specialist knowledge whilst developing clinical leadership skills.  If you are looking for a new challenge to further your skills this could be the post for you.

We prioritise the development of our staff and to support this, the following opportunities are available:

  • Strong clinical and managerial supervision
  • A full clinical induction programme for essential operational skills
  • A bespoke and robust preceptorship programme to support newly qualified staff
  • Individual professional development programmes
  • Excellent CPD activities - Inservice Training

You will require a commitment to multidisciplinary working, excellent organisation and communication skills and a proactive approach to their own development.  They will need to be able to work in a fast paced environment and have experience of an acute hospital setting.

The Occupational Therapy Department is part of an integrated Therapy Service delivered across the Trust’s two sites - Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury and Maidstone General Hospital

You will be required to participate in weekend working.  Pay enhancement for unsocial hours is available in accordance to Pay and Condition Circular Agenda for change. The successful applicant will be required to apply for an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure prior to commencing employment.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
