Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the south east of England. The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 560,000 people living in Kent and North East Sussex.

The Kent Oncology Centre provides oncology services to Kent, Medway and East Sussex, providing a full range of chemotherapy and supportive treatments at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals and Radiotherapy services in Maidstone and Kent & Canterbury Hospitals.

The centre offers the whole range of radiotherapy treatment facilities and has radiographer led services across the patient pathway

We are currently recruiting for a Macmillan Consultant therapeutic radiographer in Palliative Care within the Kent Oncology Centre, Band 8a/8b according to experience.

This is an exciting new post for an enthusiastic, motivated and innovative therapy Radiographer at the Kent Oncology Centre.

The Consultant Therapeutic Radiographer will work closely with the consultant Radiographer on the Canterbury site and will be responsible for providing a specialist palliation service which includes:

  • Patient assessment, follow up and prescribing palliative radiotherapy and operating as an independent prescriber.
  • You will provide professional, clinical and managerial advice to facilitate other professionals, multidisciplinary groups, patients and their carers.
  • You will contribute to the development of palliative cancer services within the Trust and to the operational and strategic developments within the Cancer Care Service.
  • You would be expected to take an active part in, pre-treatment and the clinical education of palliative radiotherapy for multi-disciplinary staff including medical SPR’s

You will need to demonstrate an ability to work autonomously across the palliative pathway and an ability to support the team in the treatment delivery.

You will be expected to undertake training for this role, working with the palliative consultant radiographer on the East Kent site and Clinical Oncologist’s across the Kent Oncology Centre.

You will be based on the Maidstone site but will be expected to attend clinics on sites across the West Kent area.

At least five years of current oncology experience working at advanced practice with masters level education is essential to apply for this post.
