KENT ONCOLOGY CENTRE

KENT MEDICAL PHYSICS PARTNERSHIP

RADIOTHERAPY PHYSICS SECTION – TREATMENT PLANNING

TREATMENT PLANNING RADIOGRAPHER OR DOSIMETRIST

As one of the largest radiotherapy departments in England, the Kent Oncology Centre provides specialist cancer services to those living in Kent, Medway and parts of East Sussex through its centres in Maidstone and Canterbury.

KOC currently has nine Varian linear accelerators across the two sites (six with RapidArc IMRT and OBI including two TrueBeam), dedicated CT-Simulators on each site, HDR micro-Selectron and I125-Seed Prostate Brachytherapy facilities at Maidstone and access to MRI and PET-CT imaging. We have Pinnacle, Eclipse, Oncentra and Variseed for treatment planning and ARIA networked across the two sites. RapidArc IMRT, IGRT, Deep Inspiration Breath-hold and SABR are in routine use for a range of clinical sites.

We are committed to introducing the latest techniques as well as the latest equipment: current areas of development include expansion of the IMRT service, expansion of IGRT, Adaptive Radiotherapy and HDR Prostate Boost. KOC actively participates in clinical trials.

A further full-time permanent position is now available at Maidstone, though you will sometimes be required to work on other sites. The post will require some out of hours working.

You will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual with suitable treatment planning experience, looking to further develop your skills and progress your career. Depending on your own particular skills and interests and the future requirements of the service you will be given the opportunity to develop your role through postgraduate training and role extension.

You will participate in all aspects of the Treatment Planning section: production of complex treatment plans including VMAT planning, organs-at-risk outlining, CT simulation and Mould Room assistance. You will take a leading role in the day-to-day management of an area of treatment planning on a rotational basis.

Reporting to the Radiotherapy Planning Manager you will be required to work closely with Radiographers, Clinical Oncologists, Physicists, Dosimetrists, Engineers, Technologists and Healthcare Science Practitioners.

We are able to offer you continuous professional development within a supportive, collaborative working environment and are willing to consider options such as job share or flexible working.

Both Maidstone and Canterbury hospitals have a day nursery and staff car parking facilities. The county town of Maidstone and the university city of Canterbury offer beautiful river scenery, historic buildings and excellent shopping facilities, leisure centres, restaurants and nightlife together with good schools. Both Maidstone and Canterbury are within close proximity to the S.E coast, London and the Channel Tunnel.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at enhanced level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children).
