The Oncology Pharmacy is a high profile department within the Kent Cancer Centre and the Kent & Medway Cancer Network. We are always striving to move forward in order to meet the demands and challenges of an ever-evolving service.

We are in the process of submitting a business case for the relocation of the aseptic service to the facilities at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury (TWH) with the view to gain a manufacturing specials license. The relocation will enable us to maximize our capacity to deliver optimal care to all patients.

An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Pharmacy Technician to further their career within a busy aseptic unit. The position is currently based at the Maidstone Hospital; there will be a requirement to work at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital aseptic unit when it is recommissioned.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, highly motivated and resourceful technician with excellent communication and organisational skills to join our proactive aseptic team.

Duties will include:

  • Supervision of the day to day running of the aseptic unit with support from the Band 6 operational Pharmacy Technician.
  • Participating in the aseptic preparation of intravenous products including chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, clinical trials and Total Parental Nutrition (TPN).
  • Support the Band 6 Quality Assurance Pharmacy Technician in the delivery of a robust Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Training staff in the aseptic unit and ensuring they maintain their validations.
  • Liaising with Pharmacy colleagues and other health care professionals with relation to the supply of sterile products.
  • Assisting the senior aseptic team in the move to the TWH aseptic unit and its commissioning.

Experience working in a hospital pharmacy aseptic unit is essential.

You will be a professionally qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and practice CPD.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at enhanced level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)
