The Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust currently cares for approximately 500,000 people in West Kent. The Trust operates from two primary sites: our new state of the art Tunbridge Wells Hospital, the first all single room NHS hospital in England, and Maidstone Hospital, where the Kent Oncology Centre is based.

Ideally situated between the Kent coastline and the capital, the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells area is a great place to live and work.

The Kent Oncology Centre treats over 7,000 new patients a year from Kent and East Sussex. The Centre is highly regarded for the excellent care it provides and for its work with major pharmaceutical companies in conducting vital research to support the development of new cancer treatments.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and clinically skilled nurse looking to take the next step in their career towards a Clinical Nurse Specialist role. You will be expected to contribute to an expert service in colorectal cancer that positively impacts on the experience of patients and carers through mapping the current colorectal pathways and identifying new ways of delivering a timely service provision to colorectal cancer patients. With team support, you will be expected to continue to support and facilitate a “straight to test” model for patients referred into the colorectal department ensuring the pathway is integrated across health and social care and, remains patient focused.

You should be able to combine autonomy with team working and sensitivity and professionalism. You will be expected to adopt a holistic, pro-active and dynamic approach and, in liaison with the senior team be responsible for delivering a new model of care pathway to improve compliance with NICE recommendations and National targets.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at enhanced level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)
